Ocean Sands is a York Beach retreat made for families - a place to reconnect, reset, and return to the simple joys of the coast. It’s the kind of stay where kids fall asleep happy, parents actually relax, and everyone leaves already talking about “next time.”
Formerly known as Sea Latch Inn, this property has long been part of York Beach’s story - and today it continues that tradition with a relaxed, beachy approach to hospitality.
Here, the memories come naturally: beach mornings, pool afternoons, downtown evenings, and ocean-view moments that feel like Maine at its best.

Smoking: We are a smoke free hotel. There is a $250 per room or $500 per cottage cleaning fee if it is discovered that a room was smoked in.
Destination Fee: All reservations will include a $20 per night resort fee which includes parking for 1 vehicle.
Pet Fee: $75 per pet, per stay. Limit of 2 pets.
Parking: Parking for additional vehicles is $40 per vehicle per night. A parking pass is required. No outside parking is permitted and is strictly enforced.
Party Policy: Parties or group events are strictly prohibited in rooms and cottages.
Accessibility: Please note, the hotel does not have elevators.

Are you open year-round?
We're a seasonal retreat, open from mid-May through late October, when York Beach is at its finest. We close when the birds fly south (smart birds!).
What’s the best time of year to visit York Beach?
Summer brings lively beach energy and sunshine, while shoulder seasons offer quieter stays, scenic walks, and fewer crowds. Every season brings its own kind of coastal charm.
What is your minimum check-in age?
All reservations must be made by a guest 21 years or older. We'll check your ID at check-in. It's just one of those things!
Do you have a 24hr reception desk?
Our front desk team is here for you from 7 AM to 11 PM daily. Need something outside those hours? Leave us a message and we'll take care of it!
Do you offer early check-in/late check-out?
We know you want to maximize every beach moment! Early check-ins and late check-outs are available on a limited basis for an additional fee. Check with the front desk to see if we can make it happen!
Is the hotel pet friendly?
Absolutely! Dogs are welcome at Ocean Sands. During summer months (May 20 – Sept 20), pups can enjoy Long Sands Beach before 8 AM or after 6 PM. Leashes required, for the safest experience for your best beach buddies!
What is the pet fee?
We charge a $75 pet fee per furry friend, per stay. We welcome up to 2 dogs per room, because the more tail wags, the merrier!
What is the pet policy?
We love all pets, but to keep our coastal retreat comfortable for everyone, we can only welcome dogs on-site. Your pup is going to love it here!
Is parking available?
Parking for one vehicle is included with your $20 nightly resort fee — one less thing to think about! Need space for an extra car? Off-site parking is available at $40 per night, just a scenic half-mile stroll south of Ocean Sands.

Is breakfast available on-site?
Morning coffee with ocean air is the best way to start the day! Grab breakfast items from our on-site mini-market and enjoy your meal with a side of sea breeze.
Do you have on-site dining options?
All that fresh coastal air works up an appetite! Our on-site mini-market has grab-and-go options for lunch and dinner, so you can spend more time enjoying the beach and less time searching for food.
Do you have a pool?
Sometimes the ocean is a bit too refreshing! Our seasonal outdoor pool is the perfect spot to splash around and soak up the sun. Grab a lounger and relax! Pools are open dawn to dusk.
Do you provide beach towels/chairs?
We have a limited number of beach chairs available to rent at $10 per day, perfect for settling into a good beach read! We do ask that you bring your own beach towels for those sandy adventures.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes! Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Stay connected, share your York Beach moments, or work remotely with ocean views. We've got you covered.
Can I bring my own barbecue grill?
We totally get the summer grilling vibe! We have well-maintained grills on-site, cleaned and propane-ready for your use. Leave yours at home and let us handle the prep. You just bring the burgers!
Do you have laundry facilities?
Our 3-bedroom suite in Ocean North comes equipped with an in-unit washer and dryer. For other accommodations, you'll find convenient laundromats in town for any laundry needs.
Do you have elevators?
The Commons building has an elevator for easy access. Our other buildings feature staircases only. Just a heads up when planning your stay!
Is housekeeping provided daily?
We're doing our part for the planet! Housekeeping refreshes bedding and towels every 3rd day in our hotel rooms. Need something sooner? Just let the front desk know. We're happy to help!
Do the 3 and/or 4-bedroom cottages have more than 1 bathroom?
Great question! Our 3-bedroom suite on the second floor of Ocean North is our only accommodation with 2 full bathrooms. All cottages have one bathroom as keeping things simple in the best way.
Do you have accessible rooms?
Everyone belongs at the beach! We have 5 fully accessible suites in the Commons building, so all our guests can enjoy the York Beach experience.
Are cribs or extra beds available?
Little ones welcome! We offer pack and plays at $30 per stay. Let the front desk know in advance so we can reserve one for you. They go fast!
